AUSTIN, Texas — John Caleb Stowers IV, 45, died Aug. 8, 2007, in Austin, Texas, as a result of liver failure. John lived, attended college, and worked in Clear Lake City-Houston and Austin, but considered his primary home to be Natchez where he had lived with his grandparents.
John’s remains will be cremated and buried in the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery with his sister and several generations of Stowers ancestors. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family members only.
John is the son of John Caleb Stowers and Charline Morrison Stowers Coco, and the stepson of Vincent Joseph Coco, Austin.
John graduated from Clear Lake City High School and attended San Jacinto College, Houston, Copiah-Lincoln Community College of Natchez and St. Edwards University, Austin.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Christina Stowers, in August 1986, his grandparents, General John and Effie Stowers, of Natchez and Millard and Grace Morrison of Clarksville, Texas.
Survivors include a beloved cousin, Dina Kenemore of San Francisco, Calif.; an adopted sister, Kimberly Legendre Zamora of Austin; his ex-wife, Linda Kaye Lindeman Wheatly of Austin; as well as uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Austin at www.hospiceaustin.org. They ensured that John’s last days of life were more comfortable and enabled him to die painless and peaceful at home in the presence of family. The family appreciates all Hospice Austin staff, especially Alice Jefferson, RN BSN, Case Manager.
