RIDGECREST— A memorial service for Debra Marie Polk, 56, of Ridgecrest, La., who died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, was from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Ms. Polk was born June 3, 1957, the daughter of Louis and Marie Thornhill. She was a graduate of Newellton High School. She gladly served as an assistant to Dr. John H. Roberson, DVM. She enjoyed gardening and caring for all who were in need. She dearly loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Buddy Thornhill.

Survivors include her husband, Stan; two sons, Rob Polk and wife Nickie and Jeremy Polk; two grandchildren, Devin and Desiree’ Polk; two brothers, Michael Thornhill of Ferriday and Gerald Thornhill of Brandon; two sisters, Theresa McVay of White Castle, La. and Vickey Osbourne of Clayton, La.; a special friend, Linda Peek; and a number of nieces and nephews.
