METAIRIE, La. — Graveside services for Dorothy Bland Noble Malik, 82, of Tucson, Ariz., who died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at her residence, will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden of Memories in Metairie, La., with the Rev. Jeff Milliken officiating and music by her cousin, Davis Dawkins.

Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate her life from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 at Juleps at the Natchez Eola Hotel.

Mrs. Malik was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Fayette, the daughter of Sophie Bland Noble and Felix Randolph “Pete” Noble.

Close friends knew her as “Dot.” She grew up in Fayette, where she was a member of the Fayette Presbyterian Church. She lived with her family in Washington, D.C., for a number of years before returning to Mississippi. She worked for many years at the Southwest EPA in Lorman, where she was well-loved and known for her sense of humor. She spent her retirement years in the Natchez community.

Her wit and charm enriched the lives of all who knew her, from her family to the players at the bridge table. She was gracious and forward-thinking and loved jazz, sports and the arts. Her wisdom shared in friendships spanned several generations.

She was preceded in death by her brother Felix R. Noble of Fayette.

Survivors include son Peter R. Malik and his wife Lynn, both of New Orleans; daughter Mindy Malik of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter Amy Malik of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers Lucian B. Noble and Max Davis Noble Sr., both of Fayette; grandchildren Jeffrey Parker and Nathan Parker, both of New Orleans; and a number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and many dear friends.
