Olive Marie Southerland

TOCCOA, Ga. — Services for Olive Marie “Ollie” Magoun Southerland, 87, of Toccoa, Ga., who died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Toccoa.

Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens under the direction of Whitlock Mortuary.

Mrs. Southerland was born Nov. 10, 1919, in Vidalia, the daughter of Kirk S. Magoun Sr. and Alma Corrine Ferrell Magoun.

She was the widow of Cecil Crawford Southerland and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Naomi Sunday School class. She retired from Southern Bell in Vidalia in 1978 and moved to Toccoa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son-in-law Bobby Byargeon; brothers Hugo Magoun, K.S. Magoun Jr. and Aubrey “Corky Magoun; and sisters Zell Magoun-Ellis and Betty Magoun.

Survivors include daughter Sue Southerland Byargeon; two grandsons; daughters-in-law Rocky and Jonda Wisotzke-Byargeon and David and Gina Carter Byargeon, both of Toccoa; brother Richard Denton Magoun of Pine Bluff, Ark.; great-grandchildren Nicole Byargeon Freeman of Toccoa; David Allen Byargeon of Gainesville; Miranda Dawn Byargeon, Ashley Carter Ausborn, Eric Carter and Danielle Wisotzke, all of Toccoa; great-grandchildren Katelynn Elizabeth Freeman and Chandler Ausborn, both of Toccoa; and a number of nieces and nephews.
