JACKSON — Memorial Eucharist for Monroe Morgan Wright, 66, of Jackson, who died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, in Jackson, will be noon Friday at St. Andrews Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Jackson.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Burial will follow in the Cathedral Columbarium under the direction of Mark Seepe Funeral Directors & Crematorium of Jackson.
Mr. Wright was born Dec. 8, 1940, in Meridian, the son of William Bartlett Wright and Elizabeth Morgan Wright. He grew up in Hattiesburg and was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi class of 1962 with a degree in accounting.
He met the former Melanie Reed while working in New Orleans. They married in 1966 and moved to Jackson in 1968 where he continued his CPA career with both national and local firms and then as chief financial officer for two Jackson businesses. He currently was CFO of Jackson Iron and Metal Company.
Civic activities include serving as president of both New Stage Theatre and the Mississippi Opera Guild. He had been a board member of those organizations and the Mississippi Museum of Art. He was an avid golfer and amateur chef.
Survivors include his wife; sister, Caroline Cunningham and husband, David, of Fort Myers, Fla.; children, Monroe Morgan Wright Jr. and wife, Kathleen, and their son, Peyton Monroe Wright, all of San Francisco, Elizabeth Wright Ainsworth and husband, Robert, and their son, John Gerson Ainsworth, all of Atlanta.
Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Cathedral or a charity of choice.
