FAYETTE — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two Sunday shootings involving two relatives, but that Sheriff Peter Walker says are unrelated.

Walker said a group of individuals were on the Jefferson County High School football field when a fight broke out between Terrence T. White, 18, and Kiwaski Tenner, 21.

Walker said White reportedly began to walk to his vehicle during the fight when Tenner pushed him. White allegedly got a gun out of his vehicle and shot Tenner as Tenner was walking away from White’s vehicle.

Tenner was hospitalized but later released, Walker said.

White was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and discharging a firearm on school grounds, Walker said.

Neither White nor Tenner are students at Jefferson County High School, Walker said.

Less than an hour after the shooting at the high school, a relative of Tenner’s was found shot to death in a truck in the middle of Old Highway 28 in Fayette, Walker said.

Police initially treated the death as a homicide, but Walker said investigation and autopsy reports indicate the individual died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The truck was still in drive, Walker said, and the driver had both feet on the brake pedal.

Walker said police determined a bullet hole in the window of the truck was an exit hole, not an entrance hole.

“We just weren’t sure at first,” he said. “Anytime you come up on an incident like that, you just don’t know until you investigate.”
