Justin Sellers / The Natchez Democrat — Flames envelop a 2004 Ford minivan on U.S. 84 near Luttrull Road Wednesday. The vehicle’s driver, Arvell Peters, 83, of Clayton, was traveling east on the highway when he noticed smoke emitting from his vehicle. Peters stopped the vehicle and exited when volunteer firefighter Lori Mullins arrived on the scene and helped him retrieve his personal objects, including Peters’s electric wheelchair, from his vehicle before the flames consumed it. No injuries were reported at the time of the fire.
