ZACHARY – Services for Henry Elmer “Cuz” Wilson, 87, of Zachary, who died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, after a short illness, will be at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Jeff Bayhi officiating.
Burial will follow at Azalea Rest Cemetery under the direction of Charlet Funeral Home in Clinton, La.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home with a Rosary at 6 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial.
Mr. Wilson was born in 1920, in Natchez, the son of Ira Wilson and Mary Mueller Wilson. He was the third of eight children. A World War II veteran, he served from 1941 through 1945 in the U.S. Army Air Corps stationed throughout the South Pacific. Hired by Humble Oil Company, later known as Exxon Corporation, only eight days after his military discharge, he began career of over 40 years in the oil industry. His career would take him from land drilling in South Texas, the King Ranch, Alaska and Canada to offshore exploration in the Gulf of Mexico, the Bering Sea and many other places around the globe.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Jean Wilson, his parents, two sisters and a brother.
A kind heart with a gentle soul, Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Rose June Shaw; daughters, Mary Nan Wilson of Canyon Lake, Texas, LuAnn Kirk and husband, Keenon, of San Antonio and Carol Shaw Easley and husband, Jon, of Baton Rouge; grandsons, Henry Kirk and Kevin Kirk, both of San Antonio; brother, Leslie Wilson of Austin, Texas, Edwin Wilson of Natchez and Ira Wilson of Norman, Okla.; sister, Joyce Norman of Natchez; and a number of friends.
Pallbearers will be Keenon Kirk, Henry Kirk, Kevin Kirk, John Easley, Bobby Easley and Tom Burford.
