WOODVILLE — Services for Blenda K. “Gott” Carter, of Woodville, who died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, will be 11 a.m. today at Rose Hill Second Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedar Rest Cemetery No. 2 under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Woodville.

Ms. Carter was born Aug. 21, 1955, in Woodville, the daughter of Mary Lee Carter Scott. She was baptized June 16, 1974 at Oak Hill First Zion Baptist Church by the late Rev. David Wells. After accepting Christ, she served faithfully until her death.

Ms. Carter was an educator with the Wilkinson County School District and made an enormous impact on the lives of students and teachers alike.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, three aunts and a nephew.

Survivors include her loving and devoted parents, Johnny and Mary Scott; sons, Brandon Jones and wife, Tiffany, and Revorn Jones Jr. and wife, Jerra; granddaughter, Breanna Renae Jones; siblings, Jannie Scott and husband, Arthur, of Springlake, Mich., Bessie Duncan and husband, Billy, of Midland, Mich., Ruby Stirgus and husband, Bernard, Edna Miles and husband, Johnny, and Donald Carter Sr. and wife. Linda, all of Woodville, Cleveland Carter Jr. and wife, Cheryl, and Tisa Carter, all of Baton Rouge, Evelyn Bijou and husband, Melvin, of Marerro, Barbara Holly-Young of Atlanta and Betty Gullage of Westwego; uncles, Willard Smith and wife, Izola, Arthur Smith and wife, Ida, and Tobe Smith, all of Woodville; aunts, Sarah Tolliver, Edna Gordon and husband, Rob, and Janiece Fountain and husband, Artis, all of Woodville; caregiver, Janette Ward; special friends, Cheryl Lee, Rose Miles, the Rev. Charles Bell and Beulah Lollis; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
