JONESVILLE — Services for Mason Mayfield Coleman, 83, of Jonesville, who died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at Rapides General Medical Center, in Alexandria, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Jesse Watkins, Dennis Relaford and Randy Coleman officiating.
Burial will follow at Coleman and Taunton family cemetery, in Manifest, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Mason was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Catahoula Parish, the son of Houston Richard Coleman and Laura Taylor Coleman. He retired after 33 years with the highway department as shop forman. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Kenneth Wayne Coleman and Terry Coleman; his parents; brothers, Richard Coleman and Herbert Coleman; and sisters, Lonie Owen and Maisie Widener.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Smith Coleman of Jonesville; grandson, Joseph Lance Coleman and wife, Cindy, both of Cleveland, Ga.; great-granddaughters, Lauren and Jana Coleman; brother, Earl “Pete” Coleman and wife, Clarine, both of Alvin, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Glenda Shivers of Jonesville.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Widener, Jerry Rainey, Barry Rainey, Mike Rainey, Robert McLain, John Temples and Danny Wiggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Rainey, Ray Rossier, Mike Coleman, Mark Coleman, Glynn Coleman and Jim Bowman.
