SAVANNAH, Tenn. — Graveside services for Ashley Belvin “Poppy” Coleman, 76, of Nashville, Tenn., who died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at St. Thomas Hospital, in Nashville, will be at 1 p.m. today at Neill Cemetery in Savannah, Tenn.

Ashley was born Sept. 16, 1931, in Franklin County, the son of Daniel Jeptha and Lerlean Haggan Coleman. He was a Natchez resident for over 40 years prior to relocating to Nashville in 2001.

He was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life for 48 years, Eva Jean “Jeanne” Wood Coleman; his parents; brothers, Daniel “DJ” Coleman and Eugene “Gene” Coleman; sisters, Lee Calcote and Neely Torrey; brothers-in-law, Leroy Varnado, Ford Calcote and Pete Torrey; sister-in-law, JoAnn Nettles-Coleman-Rayborn; and grandnephew, Torrey Bolt.

Survivors include his son, Gary Lee “Wok” Coleman of Nashville; daughters, Deborah “Debi” Lynn Coleman of Nashville and Vickie Ann Richards and husband, Peter, both of Houston; granddaughters, Ashlee Nicole Coleman of Nashville and Ashley Richards of Tampa; grandson, Frank Thomas Richards of Houston; sisters, Nell Varnado of Port Gibson and Bobbie Smith and husband, A.C. Smith, both of Nashville; sister-in-law, Leola Coleman of Portland, Ore.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews and friends.

Ashley was truly respected and loved by all who knew him.
