SMITHDALE — Funeral services for Dorothy Thornton Ham, 89, of Smithdale, who died Sept. 28, 2013, at McComb Nursing and Rehab, will be 11 a.m. today at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Cothern and the Rev. Joey Barnard officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Ms. Ham was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Amite County, the daughter of Luther and Ollie Peppers Thornton.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sharon Edwards; three brothers, Joe, Bert and Billy Thornton; one sister, Mildred Nettles.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Edward Ham of Smithdale, one sister, Carrol Hancock of Meadville; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Ham of Smithdale and Bernice Ham Jenkins of Bogalusa, LA; two grandchildren, Allyson Edwards and Kevin Edwards of Smithdale; three great grandchildren, Stance, Kylee and Braden Edwards all of Smithdale and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallberarers will be Milton Smith, Carl Wilson, Kevin Edwards, Wendell Wilson, Lee Dunnam and Bert Thornton.
