NAACP conference coming to town

The Mississippi State Conference NAACP 64th Annual State Convention will be in Natchez from Nov. 12-14.

The Natchez Grand Hotel will be the headquarters for the convention. The Natchez Manor and other area hotels will also have guests for this event. The Natchez Branch NAACP is the host site this year. The last state convention in Natchez was in the mid-1980s. NAACP members from across the state will be in town, to join freedom fighters from other states as well.

The events will begin on Thursday with registration and the minister luncheon. Ministers will come together to discuss issues affecting their communities.

Thursday night will heighten your soul as well as your mind with singing from various choirs from the Miss-Lou. The Rev. Kenneth Stanton will be the guest speaker. This event takes place at Pilgrim Baptist Church on Pilgrim Lane.

Friday will begin with seminars and workshops. The young at heart will have their youth banquet on Friday night.

Saturday starts with committee meetings, seminars and workshops.

Concerned about your health? Saturday is filled with tips and issues concerning your health. You will be empowered with economic questions and answers.

These seminars and workshops will stimulate your mind and give you hope for a brighter tomorrow.

The culminating event will take place on Saturday night at the Convention Center with the Freedom Awards Banquet. You do not want to miss this grand finale. It is planned to be the best ever.
