BUDE — Services for Wendell Lamar Boyte Sr., 68, of Bude, who died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center, in Hattiesburg, will be at 10 a.m. today at Bude First Baptist Church with the Rev. William Wright officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, in East Lincoln Community, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Boyte was born Feb. 7, 1939, in Brookhaven, the son of Ruie and Dollie White Boyte. Mr. Boyte worked with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department as well as a volunteer fireman with the Bude Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Boyte of Bude; a daughter, Wendy Burns and husband, Jody, of Columbia; sons, Donald J. Boyte and wife, Alesia, of Walker, La. and Wendell L. Boyte Jr. and wife, May Jane, of Sumrall; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; sisters, Dotsqie Brister of Ocean Springs and Brenda L. Boyte of Natchez; brother, Carlos Boyte and wife, Margaret, of Hattiesburg; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
