NATCHEZ —When Alfred Coach arrived at the Natchez City Cemetery with an alleged 165 doses of hydrocodone pills, his intent probably did not include leaving flowers or saying a prayer.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Coach was likely trying to be discreet among the graves, but Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Coach at 1 p.m., Monday for felony possession of Lorcet with intent to distribute.

Mayfield said tips from the public led to the arrest of Coach 45, 402 College St.

“That’s what it takes,” Mayfield said. “It takes community involvement to rid this community (of drug dealers).”

Lorcet, or hydrocodone pills, is a pain reliever and cough suppressant with similar effects to Vicodin. Mayfield said the amount of pills Coach had in possession have a street value of approximately $1,000.

“That’s a pretty big hit there…at one time,” Mayfield said.

Coach was also charged with possession of a .32-calibur revolver. Possession of a firearm on suspects charged with drug possession and intent to distribute increases a drug charge, Mayfield said.

ACSO also seized a 1998 Chevrolet truck and $ 211 cash.

Coach’s bond was set at $10,000 at his arraignment Tuesday.

In addition to Coach, ACSO arrested Walter Terrell Jones III, 25, 111 Tubman Circle, for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Jones’ bond has not been set.
