Mary Henderson

NGLEWOOD, Calif. – Memorial services for Mary Ann Henderson, of Los Angeles, formerly of Natchez, were 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2007, at Inglewood Mortuary Garden Chapel in Inglewood, Calif.

Mary Ann was the daughter of Charlie and Sophia Henderson, both of Natchez. She was the youngest of six children. Growing up in Natchez, Mary Ann attended Sadie V. Thompson High School and graduated in 1957. She later attended Jackson State College. She moved to Los Angeles where she worked at various jobs in television including the show “Password” and as coordinator of children’s programming for ABC and NBC.

Retiring after 31 years, Mary Ann returned to Natchez to pursue her dream profession as owner of a bed and breakfast, Mary Magnolia, which she operated for five years. She later returned to Los Angeles. In Natchez, she was baptized by the Rev. LeRoy White and became a member of Clarmount Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Natchez Business and Civic League and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Mose.

Survivors include her siblings, Edna Henderson Reed, Benny Henderson, Aaron Henderson and Joseph Henderson; and uncle and aunt, Sidney A. and Mary Fowler, both formerly of Natchez
