NATCHEZ — Sen. Melanie Sojourner’s Kingston house sustained major damage when a F2 tornado hit it late Friday night.
Adams County Emergency Management Director Stan Owens said a preliminary survey by the National Weather Service shows that an F2 tornado hit near the intersection of Upper Kingston and Kingston roads at approximately 11:30 p.m. The tornado, Owens said, traveled approximately one mile.
Owens said he has not had any other reports of damage aside from Sojourner’s house.
Sojourner’s daughter Kaelin Daye said no one was at home at the time the tornado struck.
