Charles Lane

VIDALIA – Services for Charles Evans Lane, 84, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, in McComb, will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, in Vidalia, with the Rev. Dan Glenn officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Lane was born May 23, 1923, in New Hebron, the son of Victor and Mayneel Lane. Mr. Lane owned and operated Lane Pharmacy from 1955 to 1989. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia, Concordia Masonic Lodge No. 305 and the Holiday Rambler Travel Club of Monroe. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1944, where he served as qualified aerial gunner and held the rank of aviation ordananceman first class.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Marcus Ray Lane, Lowery Edward Lane and Robert Davis Lane.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elsie Lane of Vidalia; sons, Richard E. Lane and wife, Pam, of Baton Rouge and Michael A. Lane and wife, Patricia, of Vidalia; granddaughters, Nealey Lane, Candance Lane and Lauren Lane, all of Baton Rouge; grandsons, Michael Bart Lane and Charlie Lane, both of Vidalia; and sister, Patsy L. Martin of Tyler, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Bart Lane, Charlie Lane, Steve Lane, Randy Day, Danny Yates and Dr. Thomas Kilroy.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Concordia Masonic Lodge No. 305.
