Eloise Gremillion

BUNKIE, La. – A Mass of Christian burial for Eloise Brouillette Gremillion, who died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at her home surrounded by loved ones, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Jack Michalchuk officiating,
Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven Mausoleum, in Bunkie, under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home in Bunkie.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a Vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. A visitation will also be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday with rosary at 10 a.m. at the church.
Mrs. Gremillion was born July 6, 1930, in Marksville, La., the daughter of Curry and Fredina Brouillette. She was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America, where she held several offices. She also served as a Eucharist minister. She was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Bunkie General Hospital for 25 years and a member of the Silver Society.
Mrs. Gremillion, affectionately known as Mamaw, devoted her life to her family. Her special talents of painting and quilting were shared with those dearest to her heart. She touched the lives of everyone around her in so many ways. Her caring heart and sweet spirit were known to all those who came to know her. Because of her devoted prayer life and deep faith in God, she persevered bravely through life’s journey. She is loved and will be sadly missed by her dear family.
Mrs. Gremillion was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, George P. Gremillion of Bunkie; daughters, Evelyn Fairbanks and Dick Thompson, both of Natchez, and Anne Bain and husband, Bill, both of Bunkie; son, Paul Gremillion and wife, Ann, both of Bunkie; grandchildren, Angelle Oliver of Charlotte, N.C., Maureen O’Neal and husband, Kelly, both of Shreveport, Will Bain and wife, Candance, David Bain and wife, Jana, Catherine Gremillion, and Maggie Gremillion, all of Bunkie, Emily Bain Woodard and husband, Ashley, both of Pace, Fla., and Jennifer Gauthier and husband, Derik, both of Baton Rouge; and great-grandchildren who she fondly referred to as “the little children,” Luke, Nick, Parker, Rebecca, Kade and Konnor.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Will Bain, David Bain, Ashley Woodard, Derik Gauthier, Kelly O’Neal and nephew, Rusty Gremillion.
The family would like to thank Hospice Care of Avoyelles and extend special gratitude to Sandy Speer, Kim Mayeux and Pam Hale for the loving care shown to our mother.
