BAKER, La. — A late start to the kickoff of Adams County Christian School’s game Friday night at Central Private School didn’t slow down the visiting Rebels any as they defeated the host Rebels 41-0.

The game finally got going at 8:30 p.m. following a lengthy delay because of extensive lightning in the area. And once it did, it was all ACCS. Lester Wells started the scoring spree with a 47-yard touchdown run with 9:40 to go in the first quarter.

Trey Fleming added a 27-yard touchdown run with 5:35 left in the opening quarter and Torrey Smith scored on a 10-yard run with 49.9 seconds remaining to give ACCS a 21-0 lead.

The second quarter was more of the same as ACCS continued to dominate Central Private with its running game. Brandt Pugh scored on an 8-yard run at the 10:24 mark, Zach Young went in from 1 yard out with 7:48 left and Matthew Rymer had the longest touchdown run of the game for the visiting Rebels with his 53-yard run.

Dylan Galbreath made his first five extra points before taking a knee after Rymer’s touchdown.

ACCS racked up 392 yards of total offense, with 340 of those on the ground, had 18 first downs and didn’t punt the ball once.

Rymer had two carries for 63 yards, and Chisum Mardis had four carries for 47 yards to lead its ground game.

Carlos Woods completed both of his passes for 31 yards. Wells also had one catch for 20 yards and led the defense with five tackles.

ACCS (3-1), which matched its win total from last season, will host CENLA Christian Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
