Louise Dawson Milby

BURNSVILLE-Services for Louise Dawson Milby, 81, who died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church in Burnsville, N.C., with the Rev. Wess Sharp officiating. A service will also be held ay 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Vidalia United Methodist Church.

Internment of the ashes will be in the Dawson Family Cemetery in Gurley, La. at a later date.

Mrs. Dawson was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Gurley.

She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing in Baton Rouge and enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a registered nurse. She was a resident of Concordia Parish for more that half a century before retiring to Florida and North Carolina. She was greatly beloved by her patients, her friends and family, and especially too, by her collie, Gus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Thomas Percy Dawson; and her husband, of 46 years J.W. Milby.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Dawson Milby, of Burnsville; her daughter, Nancy Milby Whitley, of Vidalia, granddaughters; Emily Whitley Nash, of Texarkana, Ar, Meredith Whitley Brown, of Monroe, and a great-granddaughter; Madison Claire Hinson.

Memorials may be made to the Natchez Children’s Home, Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church, in Burnsville, or other charity of your choice. Yancey Funeral Home is serving the Milby family.
