NATCHEZ — Funeral services for the Rev. Matthew Lee Anderson, 93, who died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. today at Christian Hope Baptist Church under the direction of the Rev. Luther Bonds.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
The Rev. Anderson was born June 12, 1920, the son of Harry Anderson and Rachel Payne Anderson.
He was a former pastor of Springhill Baptist Church in Roxie, New Hope Baptist Church and St. Peter Rock No. 2 in Natchez.
The Rev. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agnes Anderson; two sisters, Annie Hoskins and Margaret Anderson; three brothers, William T. Anderson, Fred Anderson Sr. and the Rev. James C. Anderson; four grandchildren and four nephews.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Katherine A. Morrison and Ruth E. Williams; three sons, Robert Anderson and wife, Rosalie, Michael Anderson and Matthew Anderson Jr. and wife, Ginetta; two daughters he helped raise as his own, Dwan “Katrina” Amderson and Konette Davis; two sisters-in-law, Katie Anderson and Edith Anderson; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
