NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School’s opponent tonight is Central Private School, but much of ACCS’s focus this week has been on itself.

Head coach David King said he’s barely watched any film on Central Private, instead choosing to break down his own squad in the wake of a 34-12 loss to Centreville Academy last week.

“I had to watch us, because I have to fix us,” King said. “There are two assessments I’ve made: We’re poorly coached, and we’re not mentally tough.”

But King said he has confidence in himself to correct those two things, and he also said the players have responded well in practice this week.

“Obviously, I haven’t gotten through to them what we’re trying to accomplish,” King said. “I do a lot of different things, and I just haven’t gotten those guys comfortable with what we’re doing. But we’ve made a lot of strides this week.”

And those strides will be needed, King said, regardless of which team ACCS (2-1) is playing.

“It doesn’t matter if we’re playing the Pittsburgh Steelers or Woodville’s pee wee team,” King said. “We feel like this was a great lesson learned, and I’ve been really pleased with what we’ve done this week.”
