BATON ROUGE — Funeral services for Buddy Clay Fairbanks, 77, of Denham Springs, La., who died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, will be at 3 p.m. at the Voice of Pentecost Church in Baton Rouge with the Rev. Robert Martin and the Rev. Russell Cripps officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 1 p.m. until service time Friday.
Mr. Fairbanks served and defended our country in the U.S. Marine Corps as well as the Louisiana National Guard. He also served his community as chief deputy of the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office and his state as a Louisiana State Trooper for many years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Usher Fairbanks Sr. and Sallie Irma Fairbanks; wife, Mary Ann Smith Fairbanks; and brothers, Carey O. and John H. Fairbanks.
Survivors include two sons, Clay Fairbanks and wife, Susan; Greg Fairbanks and wife, Tonya; three daughters, Amanda K. Brown and husband, Monty, Kimberly K. Vines and husband, Roy Mack, and Charlene F. Ford and husband, Brad; grandchildren, Lindsey and Brandon Stewart, Lana and Leslie Ann Fairbanks, Jessica K. and Hannah Beth Vines, Taylor and Alexis Fairbanks, Rebekah and Devin Ford, and Madden and Marianna Brown; great-grandchildren, Braxton Clay Stewart and Kyley Stewart; brother, Russell Usher Fairbanks Jr.; sisters-in-law, Pauline Fairbanks, Joyce Fairbanks; and a number of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisiana State Troopers Association or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation.
A very special thank you to the ICU staff of Ochsner of Baton Rouge, especially Teddy and Kady for the love and care shown to our family in this difficult time.
