NEW ALBANY – Services for Ruby Lucille Lindley Byrd, 81, of New Albany, who died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at Sanctuary Hospice House, in Tupelo, will be at noon Friday United Funeral Service Chapel, in New Albany, with her grandson-in-law, the Rev. Mark Calhoun, officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of United Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Byrd was born March 29, 1926, in Hermanville, the daughter of Harold and Lula Daniels Lindley. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, in Natchez, but attended Hillcrest Baptist Church, in New Albany, after she moved to New Albany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Nelson Byrd Sr.; her parents; and brother, Charles Lindley.
Survivors include her sons, Nelson Byrd and wife, Wanda, both of Madison and Johnny Byrd of Franklinton, La.; grandchildren, Melanie Byrd Calhoun of Southaven, Debbie Byrd Rowan and David Byrd, both of New Albany; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Coker, David Byrd, Phil Lindley, Chris Rowan, David Calhoun, Chris Calhoun, John Mark Calhoun, Daniel Ray and Dale Chastain.
