NATCHEZ — Services for Charles Peyton Rice, 68, of Natchez, who died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou in Ferriday with the Rev. Gary Howington officiating.
Burial will follow in Jersey Settlers Cemetery in Kingston under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Rice was born Nov. 20, 1944, in Murphy, N.C., the son of the Rev. James Cecil Rice and Lucy Eva Rice.
He was a resident of Natchez, a member of the Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou and the owner of American Insurance of Natchez. Mr. Rice was an equine enthusiast that enjoyed raising Tennessee Walking Horses. As a motorcyclist, he enjoyed his classic Triumph motorcycles. He was also an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America for many years and received numerous honors and awards. As an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, he supported his team faithfully.
Mr. Rice will be remembered as a devoted Christian and a loving husband to his darling wife, Cammie Jo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Van Dewey Rice and Stephen Lewis Rice; and sister Barbara Jo Rice.
Survivors include his wife, Cammie Jo Rice; three brothers, Thomas Edward Rice, Parks Edwin Rice and the Rev. Dan Rice; mother-in-law, Mamie Hux; two nephews, Ashton Kennon and Jeff Rice; three nieces, Lori Warnock, Brooke Hux and Whitney Hux; and special friends and family Polly and Allen Kennon, Shairod Hux, Terri Adams, Mellissa Adams, April Hollie, Tiffany Lillie, Darry White and Preston Jones.
Pallbearers will be Allen Kennon, Mickey Warnock, Jeff Rice, Shairod Hux, Ashton Kennon, Eric Adams, Darren Sherman and Darry White.
Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Setton, Sam Bailey, Bert Head and Ed Foley.
