VIDALIA — Services for Henry Ray Comer, 84, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Bill McCullen officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday, both at the church.
Mr. Comer was born June 20, 1929, in Clayton, the son of George S. Comer Sr. and Clara Edna Hutchinson Comer.
He was a graduate of Vidalia High School and attended Louisiana State University. He was a retired office manager with Camco-Schlumberger Oil Field Service.
Mr. Comer was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidalia and an ordained deacon at 12th Street Baptist Church and Murray Street Baptist Church in Lake Charles, La.
Mr. Comer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Louise Sturgeon Comer; and two brothers, George S. Comer Jr. and Robert S. Comer.
Survivors include four children, Barbara Price and husband, Ken, of Natchez, Terry Lynn Comer of Vidalia, Leslie Ray Comer and wife, Pam, of Lake Charles, and Henry C. Comer and wife, Christie, of Charleston, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh Comer, Chris Jackson, Ken Price, Brian Lott, Tim Welch, Jeff Soniak, John Drennan and Will Manning.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth Stubbs, Brandon Comer, Ben Wyles, Ralph Shields III, Clare Shields, Eldon Stigall, Jimmy Knapp and David Davis.
