Ridgecrest — The Ridgecrest Board of Aldermen fired the town’s clerk Thursday after she allegedly failed to show up for work.

Mayor Dwayne Sikes said Sharon Beatty last came to work on Aug. 23, but declined to comment further.

Immediately after the meeting was called to order at 7 p.m., the board entered executive session, which prevented discussion from being held publicly. The board exited executive session at 7:37 p.m. and adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
