Diane Stephens

MADISON – Services for Diane Hightower Stephens, 69, of Madison, formerly of Natchez, who died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Natchez Trace Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Natchez Trace Memorial Park under the direction of Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stephens was born in Winona, where she grew up, and later moved to Natchez. She was the daughter of P.J. Hightower and Carolyn Hightower White. She graduated from Ole Miss, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She taught school at McWillie Elementary School in Jackson and in 1970, moved to Iuka, where she continued to teach elementary school.
She moved back to the Jackson area in 1985 and taught at two elementary schools in Madison, Rosa Scott and Madison Station, until retiring in 1996. She enjoyed dancing and occasionally taught line dancing. After retiring, she remained active as a Madison City Chamber of Commerce ambassador and member of the Madison Lions Club. She later taught for Computer Tots and served as a tour director for BSCI Travel Agency. Most recently, she hosted various corporate seminars.
Mrs. Stephens was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and stepfather, Mackey White.
Survivors include her two children, Glenn Stephens and wife, Tammy, and Kathryn Sampley and husband, David; brother, Bill White and wife, Marianna; nephew, Matt White and wife, Erin; three grandchildren, Rhett, Graham and Thad Stephens; and former husband, Hubert Stephens.
