WOODVILLE — Kali Jenkins pitched five shutout innings for Silliman Institute as the Lady Wildcats defeated the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Lady Rams 4-0 in a five-inning game Tuesday afternoon.

WCCA did a good job of keeping the game close thanks to a solid effort on the mound by Hannah Lanehart and some outstanding defensive plays. Unfortunately, the Lady Rams could not get the key hits when they needed them.

“We had runners on base in several innings, but she (Jenkins) shut us down. She did a good job,” WCCA assistant coach Jessie Toney said. “She had at least four strikeouts.”

Even though she was saddled with the loss, Lanehart struck out one batter and walked just one batter. The Lady Rams were led at the plate by Jamie Lewis, who went 2-for-3.

Silliman scored two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the top of the second and one in the top of the third. Taylor Rogillio went 2-for-2 with a triple to lead the Lady Wildcats at the plate.

WCCA (2-6, 1-1) has a 5 p.m. game Thursday at home against Franklin Academy in an MAIS District 7-A game.

ACCS 10, Amite School Center 3

LIBERTY — Tory Laird keyed Adams County Christian School’s six-run rally in the top of the fifth inning with a three-run triple as the visiting Lady Rebels defeated the host Amite School Center Lady Rebels Tuesday afternoon in an MAIS District 5-AA game.

Laird not only brought in those three runs on her key hit, she finished the play by scoring on an Amite School Center error. The six-run rally turned a close game at 4-3 into an insurmountable 10-3 lead.

Taylor Perkins overcame a shaky performance on the mound to pick up the win. She allowed three runs, all in the bottom of the third inning that tied the game up at 3-3, on six hits and four walks in four innings. Amite School Center scored those runs right after ACCS broke a scoreless ball game with three runs in the top of the third.

Perkins was finally eligible to be the winning pitcher after ACCS scored one run in the top of the fourth inning to go up 4-3. She helped her cause by going 2-for-2 at the plate while Makenzie Landers went 2-for-4.

ACCS (7-7, 2-1) plays again at 6:15 p.m. next Monday at home against MAIS District 5-AA opponent Brookhaven Academy.

Lawrence County 21, Franklin County 0

MEADVILLE — Barri Rogers pitched a complete-game shutout and went 4-for-4 at the plate as the Lawrence County Lady Cougars needed just five innings to take care of the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night.

Lawrence County finished with 25 hits in the game and was aided by an 11-run second inning and a seven-run third inning. Jamie Martin went 3-for-3 with two doubles and Jasmine Thomas was 4-for-5 with a double.

Macy Brabham was the lone bright spot for Franklin County at the plate as she went 3-for-3. All seven of the Lady Bulldogs’ hits went for singles.

Franklin County (1-2) hits the road for a 6 p.m. game Thursday at West Lincoln.
