NATCHEZ — A 38-year-old Natchez woman remains in stable condition at a Jackson hospital after being shot during an apparent altercation Tuesday on Dumas Drive.
“As of (Wednesday), she’s still in stable condition,” Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
The Natchez Police Department has refused to release the name of the woman per the family’s request.
Sgt. Craig Godbold said no arrests were made Wednesday relating to the incident. The victim was shot once in back while possibly attempting to break up a dispute between two individuals at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday.
“We feel the victim knows who shot her,” Godbold said. “We’ve talked with the victim and witnesses who were with the victim at that time, but we still don’t have a clear answer yet.”
Mullins said the victim was listed in stable condition at Natchez Regional Medical Center Tuesday, and has been transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
