NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Stanley John Novak, 91, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Walton Jones officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Novak was born Jan. 4, 1922, in Chisholm, Minn., the son of John and Gertrude Yoric Novak.
He was affectionately known by many as “Grand John,” graduated from Chisholm High School. He was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Novak was stationed at Camp Van Dorn, which was a U.S. Army infantry training post in Centreville from 1942 to 1945. After the war, Mr. Novak began his long career in the wholesale business with Corr-Williams Tabacco Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rae McKinney Novak; his parents; three brothers, John, Tony and Frank Novak; and one daughter-in-law, Janice Byrd Novak.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Novak and wife, Phyllis, and Ronny Novak and wife, Dottie; one sister, Mary O’Bert; five grandchildren, Janeé Novak, Jamison Novak, Nikki Barry and husband, Mitch, Casey Novak and wife, Lindsey, and Ron Novak; and nine great-grandchildren, Jessa Novak, Dossett, Trenton and Janice Novak, Weldon, Connor and Nicholas Barry, Lehman and Dane Novak.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jamison Novak, Casey Novak, Ron Novak, Robert McKinney, Richard McKinney and Bill McKinney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Natchez-Adams Humane Society.
