FERRIDAY — The doctor is no longer in…or won’t be after today.
The Department of Defense’s Innovative Readiness Training Program will offer a variety of free health care services at Central Louisiana Technical Community College’s Ferriday campus from Thursday to Aug. 16.
Concordia Parish Economic Development director Heather Malone said today is the last day for residents to call Ferriday Town Hall and request the services.
“We are excited to announce that we have reached the mission’s anticipated capacity,” Malone said. “Rest assured that everyone that who has already called Ferriday Town Hall for an appointment will be called back and will receive an appointment time.”
“Please be patient as volunteers are trying their best to call everyone back for an appointment.”
The program, which was dubbed, “Project Delta Care,” will include medical, dental and optical care. Medical services will include blood pressure, heart health and diabetes testing. Optical services will include color blindness screening and glasses repair.
Patients will also be able to receive a free pair of prescription glasses.
Malone said some people with previously scheduled appointments might cancel, so the program will accept walk-in appointments after 3 p.m.
“All individuals with appointments will be seen during their appointment time first before a walk-in will be accepted,” Malone said. “If you plan to walk in, please expect to wait.”
Veterinary services were originally going to be offered as well, but Malone said those have been canceled.
“The Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine denied the U.S. Army Reserve Veterinarians temporary credentials to provide service in the State of Louisiana,” Malone said. “Those with appointments are being contacted about the cancellation.
“The veterinary portion of the mission has been changed to provide adequate care for the shelter animals at the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society shelter.”
To schedule an appointment, call Ferriday Town Hall at 318-757-3411.
