NATCHEZ – Services for Albert James Davis, 67, of Natchez, who died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Egypt Baptist Church, on Carmel Church Road, off Hutchins Landing Road, with the Rev. Elmo Frye and Forest Aid Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Davis was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Adams County, the son of Ben Davis and Orange Lee Claiborne Davis. He attended St. Francis High School (Holy Family). Mr. Davis worked for various companies as a truck driver, including Stahlman Lumber Company, Natchez Steel and Pipe Company, Feltus Brothers Hardware, Highland Trucking Company, Davidson Trucking and Delaney Trucking. He was a member of Forest Aid Baptist Church, as well as the North End Social Club and Soul Modulators CB Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycling.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Erma Jean Tucker Davis; one sister, Gladys Davis of Los Angeles; two nephews, Donald Davis and wife, Annette, both of Los Angeles and Quincy Tucker and family of Jacksonville, Ark.; two great-nieces, Delaney Davis of Los Angeles and Trinity Amir Tucker, who lived with him and his wife; three special cousins, Joyce Wesley, Paulette Marshall and Dianne Johnson, all of Natchez; two goddaughters, Sandra James Williams of Natchez and Winona Cara Harris of Houston; two uncles, Dan and Joe Claiborne, both of Natchez; three aunts, Helen Marvel and Dolly Guyton, both of Pasadena, Calif. and Irene Bacon of Natchez; six aunts-in-law, Emma Ivory, Forrestine Williams, Floridasten Ivory, Rosa Ivory, Mamie Davis and Alberta Mouton; and two uncles-in-law, Alphonse Christmas and Isaac Christmas.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Woods, Darryl Bassett, Marvin Anthony Watson, Don Claiborne, Caleb Johnson and Ronnie Rice.
