NATCHEZ – Services for Opal E. McGuire, 72, of Natchez, who died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Paul Southerland officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. McGuire was born April 19, 1935, in Epps, La., the daughter of Clinton B. and Annie Sue Blackwell. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Natchez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mae Jewell Blackwell; and a great-grandchild, Joshua Danny Eidt.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby McGuire; two sons, Ronnie Thompson and wife, Polly, and Donnie Thompson; one daughter, Barbara Wiley and husband, Allen “Shorty” Wiley, all of Natchez; six grandchildren, Stephanie Edit and husband, Danny, both of Natchez, Kari Werst and husband, Joshua, both of Laurel, Md., Charity Wiley of Jonesboro, La., Allen C. Wiley, Summer Thompson and Bobby Lee Wiley, all of Natchez; six great-grandchildren, Zachary Baker, Karrigan Eidt, Colton Eidt, Kaylee Eidt, Hailee, Barrett and Bart Barrett; three sisters, Janice Dunn, Carolyn Thorpe and Glinda Collier, all of Natchez; three brothers, Douglas Hathaway of Oceanside, Calif., Roy Blackwell and Michael Blackwell, both of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Norma Wiley.
Pallbearers will be Herman Wiley, Allen C. Wiley, Danny Eidt, Bobby Eidt, Bruce McCall and Jimmy Dunn.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Thorpe, Fred McGuire, Roger Wiley and David B. Mitchell.
