OLDENBURG — Services for Harvey “Did” M. Prather Jr., 69, of the Oldenburg community in Franklin County, who died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at his residence, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elmo Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hunsucker and Dr. Matt Buckles officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday, both at the church.

Mr. Prather was born Sept. 22, 1943, in Natchez, to Harvey M. Prather Sr. and Hannah Lehmann Prather. He was retired from Georgia-Pacific as a supervisor.

Mr. Prather was Baptist and a lifelong member of Elmo Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a Past Master of the Ben Franklin Lodge No. 11, F&AM and a member of the Middlefork Coon Hunting Club. He also served in the U.S. National Guard.

Mr. Prather was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janet Farrell; and one brother, William Maxie Prather.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred “Weese” Prather; one daughter, Melissa “Missy” Martin and husband, Billy Jr., of Oldenburg; two grandsons, Monte Martin and Wyatt Martin; three sisters, Ellen Harrigill and husband, Jack, of Oldenburg, Mattie Lucy Buckles and husband, Alfred, of Omaha, Neb., and Mary Ann Buckles and husband, Rayford, of Kirby; and a number of nieces and nephews.
