NATCHEZ – Services for Libby Dee Nelson Johnson, 86, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Adams County, the daughter of John Stuart Nelson and Ellen Dunmore Nelson. She was a Baptist and a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Johnson; and three brothers, Cleveland Nelson, John Nelson and Grant Nelson.
Survivors include eight children, Jessie Huff and husband, Clyde, JoEllen Singleton and husband, Vernell, Charles Johnson and wife, Bertha, and Irlyn Johnson Griffin, all of Natchez, Daisy Thomas, Doris Bridges and husband, James, John Johnson and Terry Johnson, all of Dallas; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a special son, Charles Walker of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law.
