NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Evelyn Reed Dauphin, 80, of Natchez, who died Sunday, July 28, 2013, will be at 2 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church.
Ms. Dauphin was born July 12, 1933, in Natchez, the daughter of Capt. Louis E. Reed and Beatrice Beach Reed of Natchez. She was a lifelong resident of Natchez and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Ms. Dauphin was a 1951 graduate of Natchez High School. Margaret Martin was her favorite teacher in grade school. She was very active in school plays, athletics and social clubs during school.
Evelyn, affectionately known as “Ms. E,” worked at Darby’s for the past 15 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also shared her love with all friends and those dearest to her heart. She touched the lives of everyone around her in so many ways. Her generous and caring heart and sweet spirit were known to all the lives she touched. Because of her devoted prayer and deep faith in God, she bravely traveled life’s journey with a beautiful smile, twinkle in her eyes, and the greatest appreciation for all of life’s beauty. She will be greatly missed by her dear family and friends.
Ms. Dauphin was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Louis “Louie” Eugene Dauphin; and one daughter, Holly Dauphin Fields — all of Natchez.
Survivors include two sons, Benjamin Wilson Reed Dauphin and wife, Barbara, of Kingwood, Texas and Jason Edward Dauphin and partner, Alex, of Natchez; one granddaughter, Lauren Dauphin Hoggatt; one great-grandson, Austin Lee Hoggatt, both of Natchez; a devoted daughter-in-law, Leslie; and extended family, Dennis and Darby Short.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Short, Joey Gunning, Dwight Cameron, Bob Canon and Wayne Bryant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
