Last week saw actors, giant checks

Theatrical talents were honored, and oversized checks were given last week in the Miss-Lou.
But before we put this week behind us and prepare for the one ahead, let’s take a look back at some of the highlights from last week:
The Natchez Little Theatre celebrated its shining talent at its 10th annual Standing Ovation Awards. The annual awards ceremony honored the volunteers and productions of NLT’s 65th season, which was record-breaking. We give a standing ovation to those honored and NLT for continuing to provide our area with entertainment.
The City of Natchez received a $500,000 check from the Mississippi Department of Transportation for the city’s depot restoration project. The plan is to renovate the depot and relocate the Natchez Farmers Market to the bluff. We thank state and local officials for helping push this initiative forward.
Members of Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church’s Lineage of Grace drama ministry will travel to Shreveport Friday to showcase their musical performance — all without saying a single word. The ministry acts out performances through dance and mime performance. We wish the group well as they take their talents on the road to share with others.
Brian Ensminger practiced for months in preparation for Phi Beta Lambda’s National Leadership Conference, where the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Natchez campus student gave a speech encouraging students to work hard in school every day. Ensminger’s hard work paid off as he placed fourth in the nation in the business fraternity conference. We congratulate Ensminger on his success.
Don’t let the forecasted showers and thunderstorms keep you from making more great news this week.
