NATCHEZ – Services for Jimmy Clyde “Gar” Whitehead, 65, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, after a long and extended illness, at Central Mississippi Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. John Pace Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Roxie Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Whitehead was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Roxie, the son of L.J. Jr. and Evelyn Jackson Whitehead. He was a tool pusher for Odeco Oil Company for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Linda Whitehead.
Survivors include his faithful and loving daughter, Katrina Brunson and husband, Steve, of Byram; two granddaughters, Taylor Brunson and Kalyn Owen; one grandson, Codie Owen; one stepdaughter, Robbie Owen of Monroe, La.; two sisters, Sylvia Watts of Raymond and Terrie Shroyer of Birmingham, Ala.; three brothers, Herbert Whitehead of Lake St. John, John Whitehead of Destin, Fla., and Paul Whitehead of Natchez; a number of cousins including Malcolm Whitehead of Natchez ; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Brunson, Malcolm Whitehead, Leslie Wallace Jr., Codie Owen, Tony Braswell and Ronnie Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shelby Watts and Dr. Duane Shroyer.
