JONESVILLE — Services for George “Buster” Womack, 76, of Jonesville, who died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Hoots, the Rev. Lloyd Trisler and the Rev. Juan McClure officiating.
Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery in Manifest, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Womack was born on Sept. 27, 1936, in Natchez, the son of Grover Cleveland Womack and Eunice Edna Womack.
He graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1954 and was a graduate of LSU with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He was the youngest director of Catahoula Bank at 27. At his death, he was the CEO of the Catahoula Holding Company. He was a founder and past president of CC Planters Gin in Jonesville. He served on the Catahoula Parish Hospital Board and was an oilman. He farmed for 54 years and was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. One of his greatest contributions to the parish was his willingness to support young farmers and businessmen to establish themselves. Buster was an avid hunter and fisherman in his youth and was a conservationist all of his life. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather and supported his family in every way. He had many friends in Catahoula and Concordia Parish and was highly respected and admired in the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J.G. Womack and M.T. “Huey” Womack; and one sister, Anna Kathryn Womack.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Womack, of Jonesville; three daughters, Holly Primeaux and husband, Coty, of Baton Rouge, Jorie Wade and husband, Aaron, of Jonesville and Anna Claire Womack, of Jonesville; sister-in-law Ann Womack, of Jonesville; three grandsons, Woodrow Womack Wade, Andrew Primeaux and John “J.G.” Grover Womack.
Pallbearers will be Ross McCaughey, Eric Cooper, Paul Lazarus, Rick Krahn, Al Guido, Melvin Purvis, Coty Primeaux, Aaron Wade and Larry Crouch.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the directors of Catahoula Bank.
