FERRIDAY – Services for Ruby J. Irvin, 91, of Ferriday, who died Monday, May 5, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Naches, Texas. She moved to Ferriday with her family in 1948. She was a loving homemaker and served as secretary/treasurer for H.L. Irvin and Son in 1975.
As a devout Christian, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ferriday, being active in the WMU, and served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. For many years, Mrs. Irvin, along with her husband and daughter, served with Campers on Mission witnessing and building mission churches across Louisiana and the Untied States. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Lewis Irvin Sr.; daughter, Gayla Irvin; four sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include her son, H.L. Irvin Jr. and wife, Joy; granddaughters, Melynda Ann Irvin of Baton Rouge and Melissa Kay Bolen and husband, Britt, both of Pineville, and their mother, Pat Irvin of Ferriday; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Kyle Bolen and Brittney Ann Bolen; a number of nieces and nephews; special family friend, Jennifer Fries of Baton Rouge; and caregivers, Judy Crews and Meleter Roach.
Pallbearers will be Hyram Copeland, Britt Bolen, Joe Irvin, George Ward, Joe Webber, Billy Rucker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Colvin, Brant Barnett, Bill Beasley, Warren Enterkin, David Crews, Jack Adams, Ray Routon and Kyler McNeely.
