YAZOO CITY – Services for William Sidney “Billy” Perry Jr., 77, of Ridgeland, formerly of Yazoo City, who died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at The Arbor, in Ridgeland, were 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Yazoo City.
Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery, in Yazoo City, under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City.
Mr. Perry was owner of Barnwell & Barbour Insurance Agency. He served on the board of directors of French Camp Academy, and was a member of the Yazoo City Lions Club and the Yazoo City Jaycees. He was a deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Yazoo City, elder of Faith Presbyterian Church in Wildwood, Fla., and current member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.
Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his parents, William S. Perry Sr. and Estelle Shirley Perry; and one son, Thomas Hendrix Perry.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jeannette Perry; three sons, William Sidney Perry III and wife, Debi, both of Pinetta, Fla., Russell Seward Perry and wife, Wendy, both of Yazoo City, Dickson Dansby Perry and wife, Alyson, both of Dallas; one daughter, Jeanne Perry Edwards and husband, Gary, both of Natchez; nine grandchildren, Sidney, John and Daniel Perry, Seward and Mary Russell Perry, Meredith, Caroline and Thomas Perry, Stephen Edwards and wife, Lori Beth; one great-grandchild, Houston Edwards; and one sister, Shirley Allen of Indianola.
Pallbearers will be Sidney Perry, John Perry, Thomas Perry, Stephen Edwards, Sidney Allen and Walter Newman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Maxwell, Sam Ray, Doyle Moorhead and Jim Newman.
Memorials may be sent to French Camp Academy, Chamberlain Hunt Academy, New Covenant Presbyterian Church, in Natchez, of a charity of choice.
