Housley Varnado

FERRIDAY – Services for Housley Varnado, 82, of Ridgecrest, who died Monday, May 19, 2008, in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Travis Fulton officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Varnado was born Nov. 20, 1925, in McBride, the son of Clarence and Elvira H. Varnado. He was a resident of Ridgecrest for 50 years and was a member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church in Ferriday. Mr. Varnado was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army at the Battle of the Bulge, where he was a tank electrician and mechanic. He retired after 43 years of service as an electrician at Johns Manville in Natchez.
Mr. Varnado was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mike Varnado; one daughter, Connie Varnado Fisher; and two brothers, Sam and Bernard Varnado.
Survivors include his wife, Willena C. Varnado; one daughter, Deborah K. Varnado of Lake Charles, La.; son-in-law, Curtis P. Fisher of Madison; one sister, Bonnie V. Bailey of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Joshua M. Craig of Ridgecrest, Daniel M. Craig of Houston, Curtis M. Fisher and wife, Courtney, and Alecia Fisher Clark and husband, Bruno, all of Madison; and three great-grandchildren, Sophie, Ford and Cade Clark, all of Madison.
Pallbearers will be Pat Fisher, Josh Craig, Richard White, Billy Rucker, Tommy Lowry and John Rife.
