WALDO, Ark. — Services for James Arlis Tompkins, 83, of Waldo, Ark., who died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Magnolia Health and Rehabilitation Center in Magnolia, will be at 10 a.m. today at Shiloh Baptist Church in Waldo with the Rev. Petie Ward officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction Lewis Funeral Home Inc., in Magnolia.

Mr. Tompkins was born June 14, 1930, in Waldo, Ark., the son of Henry Jefferson Tompkins and Hattie Rhea Phillips Tompkins.

He retired from Halliburton after

32 years of service. He was also a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.

Mr. Tompkins served as a corporal in the U.S. Army in Germany and South Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Wayne Tompkins; one brother, Henry Tompkins; and five sisters, Narvelle Warren, Ruth Tompkins, Marie Allder, Ida Clark and Alice Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Smith Tompkins; one son, James Alan Tompkins and wife, Susan, of Tomball, Texas; one daughter, Brenda Lyn Blanchard and husband, Tommy, of Belle Chase, La.; and three grandsons, Michael Alan Tompkins and wife, Angelle, of Baton Rouge, Connor James Thurman and Nickoles Lyn Thurman, both of Belle Chase.

Pallbearers will be Michael Tompkins, Connor Thurman, Nick Thurman and Tommy Whittington.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church.
