BATON ROUGE — Services for Robert Lon “Lonny” Spilberger, 65, of Baton Rouge, who died Monday, June 24, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church in Baton Rouge with the Rev. Tom Ranzino officiating.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Spilberger was born in Memphis, Tenn., and was a resident of Baton Rouge for more than 25 years.
Lonny graduated high school in Lake Providence, La., in the class of 1966. He was also a 1971 graduate of Northeast University with a major in pharmacy. He was a pharmacist with K-Mart for 40 years, including district manager for 10 years and regional manager for two years.
Lonny was a founding member of St. Jean Vianney parish in 1976, Eucharistic minister and a religion teacher. He trained as a diabetes educator at Oschner Clinic in Baton Rouge.
Lonny worked part-time at Reeves Drug Store in Vidalia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe K. and Bettina N. Spilberger.
Survivors include his loving wife, Claudia Tonry Spilberger; one son, Joseph Lon Spilberger and wife, Helen; two daughters, Stephanie Lynn Spilberger and Elizabeth “Betsy” Spilberger Blackburn and husband, Larry Lane Jr.; six grandchildren, Odin Leahy, Michael Chen, Jaxon Spilberger, Drake Spilberger, Sophie Spilberger and Piper Blackburn; two brothers, Kim and Kevin Spilberger; and two sisters, Tina Marie Spilberger Miller and Jo Christiane Spilberger Frickey.
