JONESVILLE – Services for Robert Paul Harris Sr., 87, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at United Pentecostal Church, in Jonesville, with the Rev. Greg Terrell, the Rev. James Wilks and the Rev. Todd Tucker officiating.
Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery, in Jena, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. today until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Harris was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Wallace Ridge, La., the son of John F. and Myrtle V. Harris. He was a lifelong resident of Jonesville and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Jonesville. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Harris was a retired diesel engineer with J. Ray McDermott and Company. He was also a commercial fisherman and built hoop nets for The Fish Net Company in Jonesville.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by one son, Jesse Davis Harris; one sister, Mable Hardie; five brothers, Adie Buck Harris, Roy Harris, Elzie Harris, Herbert Harris, and Archie Harris; one granddaughter, Laurie Harris; and two grandsons, James Harris and Jesse Bernard Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Harris; four sons, Robert “Paul” Harris Jr. and wife, Judy, Billy Ray Harris and wife, Karen, all of Thibodaux, La., Larry Harris and Chris Harris and wife, Nikki, all of Jonesville; one daughter, Kathy Boothe and husband, Colin, both of Harrisonburg, La.; one brother, Clifton Harris of Jonesville; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cody Nugent Harris, Wyatt Harris, Chris Harris, Bobby Harris, Bill Harris and Chad Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Harris, Cody Mason and Billy Jenkins.
