NATCHEZ — Services for Fred Dwight Perry, 59, who died Friday, May 30, 2008, at Southwest Regional Medical Center, in McComb, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dick Root officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel and from 1 p.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Perry was born April 5, 1949, in Natchez, the son of Fred Francis and Annie Ruth Curtain Perry.
Mr. Perry was devoted to his wife of 37 years, he loved his mother, children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was an active member of Covington Road Church of Christ, where he served as an elder.
Mr. Perry was employed by F.R. Blankenstein’s and Company, and he was previously co-owner of Natchez Construction Company and Perry Oil. He was a lifelong resident of the area, and graduated from Natchez High School in 1967 and served his country in the Air National Guard. He had many friends and was known as the “Catman” to many because he fed and saved many stray cats. Fred Dwight Perry will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his father and a father-in-law, J.T. Robinson.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Robinson Perry; one son, Shawn Eric Perry and wife, Brandi, of Natchez; one daughter, LaChelle Perry Olivet, of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren, Adrienne Hall, Kristin Hall, Bailee Perry, McKenna Olivet and Madison Olivet; his mother; one sister, Frances Patti and husband, Frank, of Natchez; mother-in-law, Vivian Robinson, of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Swaggart, Kim Norton, Justin Robinson, Jamie Robinson, Don Blankenstein and Bruce Alt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Malcolm Day, Ted Robinson, Bubba Robinson and Terry Robinson.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
