John Marchesini

GREENVILLE – Services for John Clelio Marchesini, of Greenville, who died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville.
Mr. Marchesini was born in Argentina and moved to Italy at the age of two. He then immigrated to the United States in 1958, making Greenville his home for the last 50 years. As an electronic engineer, he established MaGiCo Communications in 1961.
Mr. Marchesini was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and is a former fourth degree Knight of the Father Korstenbroek Greenville Knights of Columbus Council. His love and commitment to the Boy Scouts spanned over 85 years in three continents. He achieved Eagle Scout rank and was awarded the Silver Beaver by the Boy Scouts of America. As a senior Olympic race walker, he participated and won several state and national competitions. He was a former member of the Greenville Kiwanis Club and was an avid amateur radio hobbyist.
Survivors include two children and their families, Claude Marchesini and wife, Judy Biglane Marchesini, both of Greenville, and Laura Marchesini Smallwood of Lorain, Ohio; and five grandchildren, John Noland Marchesini of Los Angeles, Kathryn Marchesini of Chapel Hill, N.C., Megan Marchesini of New York, Michael Merrill of Lorain, Ohio and Billy Merrill of Delhi, La.
