12 arrested in alleged drug busts

VIDALIA — Twelve people were arrested late Wednesday on multiple drug charges stemming from two separate drug busts.
While serving a search and arrest warrant on Ferriday resident Joe L. Atkins Jr., 34, at 419 S. Sixth St., Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents seized $9,402 in cash, five grams of powdered cocaine and a loaded handgun, sheriff’s office reports said.
In that incident, 10 people were arrested:

• Kenyona Leonard, 25, 200 Kyle Road
• Myecha Leonard, 916 Mooselodge Road
• Lashanea R. Blair, 21, 100 Kyle Road
Kenyona Leonard, Daniels, Kenneth Leonard, Kevin Carter and Atkins were arrested on charges of possession of schedule II drugs with intent to distribute, carrying weapons while in possession of a controlled and dangerous substance, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Myecha Leonard, Carolyn Blair, Cassandra Carter, Kimberly Carter and Lashaenea Blair were arrested on charges of possession of schedule II drugs with intent to distribute, carrying weapons while in possession of a controlled and dangerous substance and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, reports said.
No bond was set for any of the subjects late Thursday.
In a separate incident, narcotics agents seized 60 grams of synthetic marijuana at a house on Island Road in Monterey.
Deputies were initially at the house to ask Seth Paul, 27, 10632 Louisiana 129, about his potential involvement in drug trafficking, reported to police by local residents. After a search, narcotics agents found 40 grams of synthetic marijuana and a loaded rifle.
Paul was charged with possession of schedule I with intent to distribute, carrying weapons while in possession of a controlled and dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. No bond was set for Paul late Thursday.
Reports said Clinton Mitchell, 18, 3143 White Oak Highway, pulled up to the house during the search and began urinating publicly while smoking marijuana.
Mitchell consented to a search, in which police found 20 grams of synthetic marijuana and a loaded rifle in his car.
Mitchell was charged with possession of schedule I drugs with intent to distribute, resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. No bond was set for Mitchell late Thursday.
